Role: Interim IT Category Manager

Location: Hybrid, One day in the office (Midlands)

Day rate : £300 - £500 a day

Length: 3 to 6 months

Sellick Partnership are currently looking to recruit an Interim IT Category Manager to join one of our public sector clients who are a vital part of the Midlands infrastructure.

The Purpose of the Interim IT Category Manager

  • Support the Head of Procurement in the planning and management of a portfolio of spend categories to ensure compliance with public procurement legislation and our own internal regulations, delivery of best value and savings and to ensure contractual obligations are met in a sustainable and ethical fashion.
  • Support the Head of Procurement in appropriate day to day activities to ensure the efficient running of the procurement department, deputising for various duties and responsibilities as necessary and supporting staff and project teams as required.
  • Represent the Organisation, the Finance function and the Procurement team working with senior management at both internal and external events and meetings (appropriate to the role grade) as and when required.

Main Responsibilities for the Interim IT Category Manager;

  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of category strategies across a portfolio of procurement categories
  • Support the Head of Procurement to maintain and review of various procurement systems and processes to ensure these remain effective and complaint with regulation. Provide training and support to our stakeholders and wider communities periodically and help to drive best practice and compliance into these communities.
  • Engage with key people from across the organisation and its associated businesses to ensure each is appropriately managed and engaged in delivering projects and initiatives. Challenge established ways of working, guide and advise on alternatives and lead reluctant stakeholders to adopt new and innovative approaches and solutions (at a level appropriate to the role grade).
  • Engage with key suppliers in the category portfolio to help deliver benefits to the organisation in an ethical and sustainable way. Identify and create appropriate relationships on a supplier by supplier basis, manage risk and deliver benefit at all times.
  • Support the Head of Procurement to ensure contracts resulting from procurement activity are appropriate to the nature of the requirements, contain sufficient and appropriate provisions for risk management and value delivery
  • Take the lead on procurement projects and use robust project management methods to ensure that work is of a high quality and delivered at.
  • Adopt a pragmatic approach to Continuous Improvement
  • Take up any other related projects and lead as requested by the Head of Procurement
