Director of Research / Senior Research Manager Cambridge £80k-£90k (dep on exp) A brand-new opportunity has arisen for a Director of Research to join a Cambridge based leading scientific company who are developing a revolutionising cloud based predictive modelling software set to change how data is viewed and understood in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. This role will suit a Senior Research Manager looking to take the next step in their career - joining a well-established and successful business making a difference in people's lives! The Director of Research will lead the research team to develop and apply ground-breaking new methods in predictive modelling and machine learning methods for drug discovery. This role will be suited to a Research Manager looking to take the next step up into a more senior level role. The main responsibilities of the Director of Research are as follows: Lead the Research team to develop novel methods, including quantum mechanical (DFT and semi-empirical) and machine learning, to improve the productivity and efficiency of drug discovery, consistent with customer needs and the company's strategy As a member of the company's senior management team, help to guide the company's R&D strategy Work closely with the Development team to ensure the translation of scientific innovation into scientifically rigorous, valuable, and compelling products for our customers Support members of the Research team working with customers on projects to apply our innovative methods to their drug discovery challenges. Ensure that insights gained from these projects inform our internal research and development Work closely with the Commercial team to communicate our scientific innovations in a clear and scientifically accurate way and support our customer's effective use of our products Essential requirements A PhD in Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Machine Learning or a closely related field. Strong track record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations Recent and relevant experience of scientific management in a commercial environment Ideally having experience within Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical - preferably in Drug Discovery.
