Content Writer

Working on a hybrid basis 35 hours per week Monday to Friday

Minimum 6 month contract - likely extension available

Working with the HR team you will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of web and digital content across the University, with a particular focus on the deployment of a new web content management system (CMS). The post-holder will provide bespoke support and guidance to departments and units across the organisation on their web and digital content in line with broader strategic objectives. Assist in the development and roll out of new website governance, standards and protocols.

A high degree of organisation and project management is required for this role, along with a creative and proactive approach to work and the ability to perform in a complex, fast-paced environment. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience of working in a large, high-profile organisation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

The post-holder would work within a large, collaborative, multi-skilled project team, which has been brought together to deliver a significant step-change in our online communications. We are looking for someone with experience in digital marketing, who is up-to-date with the latest trends, and is passionate about delivering change. The role will entail interaction with staff and students from across the University, so excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) are a must.

Role responsibilities:

  • Manage and organise professional digital marketing service processes, activities, events and/or resources to achieve defined targets and outcomes.
  • Develop, implement and enforce procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, co-ordinate effort with both the wider department and to contribute to team goals.
  • Provide professional digital marketing guidance and consultancy to staff and students within operational area of expertise.
  • Plan and undertake enhancements to priority departmental and unit websites, working with the core migration project team and department-based web editing staff.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of corporate level web content that complies with internal University and external regulation, policy and procedures as part of routine checks.
  • Provide suggestions for website enhancements and manage prioritisation of technical developments.
  • Record data from digital marketing campaigns and projects accurately, provide custom reports and distribute information to key stakeholders
  • Use a range of digital media and tools (i.e. CMS, Social media monitoring etc.) to communicate with a diverse range of key stakeholders, both verbally and in written format who may need to access information across different geographic and time zones.
  • Develop, plan and deliver internal and external content and campaigns for stakeholders.
  • Establish, maintain and develop productive and ongoing relationships with stakeholders to influence perception of the University.
  • Support social media monitoring, engagement and content creation as part of the Web and Digital Content team.
  • Support the development of compelling stories that can be deployed across our digital channels, encompassing both our website as well as our social media platforms
  • Work with the wider Marketing and Communications team to support coordination and delivery of impactful digital content.
  • Work with the Student Experience team and student co-creators to support the development of rich digital content.
